Pakistan is set to welcome Saudi Arabia’s iconic fast-food chain, AlBaik, as negotiations enter their final stages. Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan recently met with AlBaik’s owner, Rami Abu Ghazala, in Jeddah to finalize operational details and explore potential locations across major Pakistani cities.
Beyond AlBaik’s expansion, the minister’s official visit to Saudi Arabia focused on strengthening economic ties. He engaged with key Saudi businessmen, highlighting Pakistan’s improved business environment through initiatives like the Single Window system and the National Compliance Center.
Saudi investors have shown keen interest in Pakistan’s energy, agriculture, IT, and construction sectors, with both nations agreeing to boost trade cooperation. Currently, Saudi exports to Pakistan have surged by 22%, raising the total trade volume to $700 million. Meanwhile, remittances from Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia have reached $7.4 billion, further solidifying financial ties.
Adding to the positive developments, Saudi Arabia’s new visa policy allows GCC citizens visa-free entry for up to 90 days, which is expected to enhance economic exchanges. Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized that Pakistan offers lucrative opportunities for Saudi businesses looking to expand.
