Tareen’s announcement comes at a time when the PTI is facing a number of challenges. The party is divided over the issue of corruption and there is a growing sense of disillusionment among the party’s supporters.
The IPP’s formation is likely to further divide the political landscape in Pakistan. It remains to be seen whether the IPP will be able to make an impact in the next general elections.
