When asked who the world’s richest person is, most people instantly name Elon Musk—and rightly so. However, when it comes to unmatched luxury, royal wealth, and opulent living, Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as King Rama X, stands in a league of his own.

Although he may not possess wealth equal to that of global tech billionaires, King Rama X is widely regarded as the richest monarch in the world, largely due to an extraordinary real estate empire that generates massive rental income.
A Fortune Built on Property and Rent
King Vajiralongkorn’s estimated net worth stands at around $50 billion (approximately PKR 4.5 trillion). A significant portion of this wealth comes from the Crown Property Bureau, which came fully under his control in 2018. Since then, the royal assets have been directly managed by the king himself.

The Thai monarch owns properties across Thailand that generate billions of dollars annually through rent alone. According to estimates, he controls nearly 6,560 hectares (16,210 acres) of land and properties nationwide.
Tens of Thousands of Rental Properties
The king reportedly has rental agreements for more than 40,000 properties, including over 17,000 properties in Bangkok alone. These include commercial buildings, hotels, palaces, and luxury resorts—making rental income the largest contributor to his immense fortune.
Banking and Industrial Investments
Beyond real estate, King Rama X owns approximately 23 percent of Siam Commercial Bank, Thailand’s second-largest banking group. He also holds 33 percent shares in Siam Cement Group, the country’s second-largest industrial conglomerate. These investments further solidify his position as the world’s wealthiest monarch.
A Lifestyle Beyond Imagination
King Vajiralongkorn’s lavish lifestyle reflects his immense wealth. It is said that if he spent just one night in each of his properties, it would take him 47 years to stay in all of them.
His luxury assets include a fleet of 38 private jets and aircraft, several helicopters, and a royal garage housing over 300 luxury cars, including Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Mercedes models.
Additionally, the Thai king owns 52 gold ceremonial boats, along with vast collections of diamonds, precious gemstones, and gold and silver jewelry.
The Richest King in the World
Thanks to massive rental income, strategic investments, and unmatched royal assets, King Maha Vajiralongkorn remains the wealthiest monarch on the planet, symbolizing a level of luxury few can even imagine.
