The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued orders to divide Dera Ismail Khan into two districts, creating a new district in the province.
According to the official notification, the new district has been named Paharpur. The district will include Paharpur Tehsil and Panyala, which previously existed as a sub-division.
The government notification states that the decision to upgrade Paharpur to district status was approved in the provincial cabinet’s 39th meeting on 2 October 2025 and has now been officially implemented.
The announcement further added that the headquarters of the new Paharpur district will also be Paharpur.
Following this decision, the government has begun restructuring the administrative setup, which is expected to improve local governance and service delivery in the area.
