NCCIA Arrests YouTuber Dr. Umar Adil Over Online Hate Speech
KARACHI – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested YouTuber Dr. Umar Adil on charges of hate speech across social media platforms.
Officials released his post-arrest photo, confirming that Case No. 203/2025 has been registered under sections 11, 12, and 13(A) of the PECA Ordinance. The arrest followed a citizen’s complaint which led to an inquiry, with investigators claiming the allegations were proven during the probe.

This is not Dr. Adil’s first brush with the law. In August 2024, he was detained over offensive remarks against female anchors, including Gharidah Farooqi.

His latest arrest highlights NCCIA’s growing crackdown on digital hate speech and online harassment.
While authorities insist such actions are vital to curb cyber abuse, digital rights groups have raised concerns over PECA’s broad provisions, warning that they may also be used to muzzle dissent and free expression.
