Hollywood Rises: 370 Stars Unite Against World’s Silence on Gaza

-

In a dramatic rebuke of the entertainment industry’s silence, 370 Hollywood heavyweights — including Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Riz Ahmed, Guillermo del Toro, and Susan Sarandon — have signed a powerful letter condemning what they call the “genocide” unfolding in Gaza.

The emotional outcry follows the killing of young Gazan photojournalist Fatima Hassouna, featured in the Cannes documentary Put Your Soul in Your Hand and Walk. She was killed alongside 10 members of her family just one day after learning her film would premiere at the festival.

“She should have been here tonight,” said Cannes jury president Juliette Binoche, holding back tears. Initially hesitant, she has now joined the chorus of voices, alongside Rooney Mara, Ralph Fiennes, Richard Gere, Mark Ruffalo, Javier Bardem, Pedro Almodóvar, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Leigh, Michael Moore, and Omar Sy.

As airstrikes continue and the death toll rises — 120 killed on Thursday alone — the stars say they are “ashamed” of the industry’s inaction. What began as whispers of discomfort has now become a thunderous reckoning.

Hollywood’s conscience is awake — and it’s demanding justice.
