ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday extended heartfelt gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for standing firmly with Pakistan during its recent standoff with India.
The gesture of solidarity came during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Farhadov at the Prime Minister’s House — a moment PM Shehbaz called a shining example of the unwavering friendship between the two nations.
Victory with Honour
Applauding Pakistan’s armed forces for the successful execution of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, PM Shehbaz called the outcome a “historic victory,” and said the entire nation is thankful to Allah. “Pakistan chose peace by agreeing to a ceasefire, but stands ready to defend every inch of its land if provoked again,” he asserted.
Stronger Together
The prime minister highlighted the growing ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, calling President Aliyev’s landmark visit to Pakistan last July a game-changer for boosting trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

Recalling his own visit to Baku in February, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s intent to turn brotherly ties into a robust economic partnership.
