In a devastating series of attacks in northern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike on a UNRWA health facility in the Jabalia refugee camp has killed numerous displaced Palestinians, including children.
Many of the victims had sought refuge in the camp after being forced to flee areas like Beit Hanoon and Beit Lahiya due to ongoing hostilities. The attack has intensified the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.
Meanwhile, the UN rights chief, Volker Turk, on Tuesday condemned an Israeli army attack on March 23 that targeted an emergency convoy, resulting in the deaths of 15 medical personnel and humanitarian workers. Turk called for a thorough investigation, describing the subsequent discovery of the workers’ bodies buried near their clearly marked vehicles as “deeply disturbing.” The brutal assault on aid workers and civilians has raised alarms over the increasing risks to humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
