Rs75 Note Dilemma-Public Confused as Many Businesses Reject It

-

What was meant to be a commemorative currency note has unexpectedly turned into a hassle. The Rs75 note, issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in July 2023 to mark its foundation day, is facing resistance from businesses, with many shopkeepers, restaurants, and traders hesitant to accept it.

This reluctance has left citizens frustrated as they struggle to use the note for everyday purchases. Complaints are mounting, with people reporting that many businesses either don’t recognize its legitimacy or refuse to take it due to uncertainty.

In response, the State Bank has reaffirmed that the Rs75 note is completely legal and should be accepted like any other currency. “It is valid for all transactions,” the central bank clarified.

The note features Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the State Bank building on one side, while the reverse showcases Fatima Jinnah.

Experts suggest that the SBP should launch an awareness campaign to ensure businesses and the public recognize the note’s legitimacy, preventing further confusion and inconvenience.
