Mustafa Amir Case Twist: Prime Suspect’s Dad Jailed in Drug & Gun Bust

-

Things just got messier in the high-profile Mustafa Amir murder case! A Karachi court has sent Kamran Asghar Qureshi, father of prime suspect Armaghan, to jail on judicial remand after cops allegedly found drugs and an illegal pistol on him. But his legal team is crying foul, questioning the entire case.

Court Rejects Police’s Plea for Extended Custody

Judicial Magistrate South shut down the police’s request for an extended physical remand and instead ordered Qureshi to be sent to jail. His lawyer, Noman Ali, pushed for jail custody, arguing that police had no solid reason to keep him in custody any longer. Another defense lawyer, Khurram Abbas, later revealed that the police had initially asked for just two more days of interrogation.

Suspicious Bust Raises Eyebrows

According to the FIR, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) was already conducting a search operation for a wanted terrorist in Karachi’s District South when they got a tip-off that Kamran Asghar Qureshi was standing outside his bungalow, allegedly carrying an illegal weapon. When police swooped in, they reportedly found him with a blue school bag containing a plastic bag filled with 200 grams of methamphetamine (ice) and a loaded 9mm pistol with five live bullets.

But here’s where it gets shady—his defense team says the entire raid is questionable because there’s no video proof. Plus, they’re asking why a man living in a bungalow would openly carry drugs outside instead of keeping them inside.

Police Brutality Allegations Add More Drama

This isn’t the first time Qureshi has made headlines in this case. At a previous hearing, he complained to the court about police mistreatment. In response, Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Khauwaja ordered a medical examination to investigate his claims.

Two Cases, One Big Mess

Qureshi is now facing two cases at the AVCC police station—one under the Control of Narcotics Substances Amendment Act 2022 and another under the Sindh Arms Act 2013. As the legal battle intensifies, the case is turning into a full-blown courtroom showdown. What happens next? Buckle up—this is far from over
