Fall From Grace – Stuart MacGill Found Guilty in Cocaine Supply Case

-

Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill has been convicted of participating in a cocaine supply case following a jury trial in the New South Wales District Court. The 54-year-old, who played 44 Tests and claimed 208 wickets, was found guilty of introducing his cocaine dealer to his partner’s brother, Marino Sotiropoulos, which led to a $330,000 drug deal in April 2021.

Prosecutors argued that MacGill’s involvement facilitated the transaction of one kilogram of cocaine, though he was cleared of knowingly supplying a large commercial quantity. Throughout the trial, MacGill maintained his innocence, admitting to recreational drug use but denying any deeper role in the deal.

The case has reignited interest in MacGill’s alleged kidnapping in 2021, reportedly linked to a failed drug transaction. Once a celebrated leg-spinner, his post-cricket life has now been overshadowed by legal troubles. He is set to return to court for sentencing on May 9.
