Magnificent Punjab- Maryam Nawaz Approves 170-Site Tourism Plan

-

Punjab is set for a tourism revolution as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveils an ambitious plan to transform 170 historical, cultural, and eco-tourism sites into world-class destinations.

As part of the initiative, the Punjab government is launching ‘Magnificent Punjab,’ its first-ever tourism app, offering virtual tours, travel bookings, hotel reservations, food delivery, and instant travel assistance through chatbot integration.

The plan focuses on religious, historical, and archaeological tourism, featuring ‘Tourist Villages’ and Punjab’s first tourism trails, including Lahore’s Walled City, Mughal heritage on GT Road, and Sikh sites in Eminabad and Gujranwala. The Gandhara Trail will cover Taxila’s historic landmarks, while Multan’s Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh and Uch Sharif will be restored as pilgrimage sites. Eco-tourism projects are also planned for Changa Manga and Lal Suhanra National Park.

To regulate tourism development, the Punjab Tourism & Heritage Authority Act 2025 will be introduced. Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her vision to position Punjab as a global tourism hub, announcing plans for a five-star hotel in Taxila to enhance tourist facilities.

With this transformative initiative, Punjab is gearing up to become a must-visit destination, where history, culture, and modern tourism seamlessly converge. The journey to rediscover Punjab has just begun.
