Karachi Braces for Chilly Blast-Another Cold Wave Hits Pakistan

-

Karachi is bracing for a chilly blast as another cold wave hits the city and much of Pakistan, bringing a series of weather challenges. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert, forecasting a sharp drop in temperatures, with nighttime lows expected to reach 10°C to 12°C until January 19.

Currently, Karachi’s temperature stands at 12°C, with a daytime high of around 26°C and 70% humidity. Strong winds expected on January 17 will intensify the cold, making the weather feel even colder.

While Karachi faces the brunt of the cold front, the rest of Pakistan is also experiencing extended periods of cold and dry weather. Dense fog is expected to blanket Punjab and Upper Sindh, reducing visibility and posing risks for travelers. Isolated rainfall and snowfall are expected in northwestern Balochistan, while Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan brace for even colder conditions.

The PMD has urged residents, especially those in fog-prone and high-altitude areas, to take necessary precautions, dress warmly, avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, and exercise caution when traveling in foggy conditions throughout the week.
