In a bizarre twist, four Pakistanis in Dubai have been sentenced to two years in prison and a hefty fine of 1 million dirhams after they attempted to turn a regular day into a robbery masterclass by posing as police officers!
The incident took place on March 29 when the Pakistani driver, along with three accomplices, learned that two Indian nationals were carrying a large sum of money.
Seizing the opportunity, they came up with a “brilliant” plan to stop the victims near Al Mankhool and pretend to be cops.
In an impressive yet illegal performance, two gang members tricked the victims into separate cars, claiming to be law enforcement, and drove them to Al Nahda, where they relieved them of 1 million dirhams, two phones, and two wallets.
The victims, not buying the act, quickly alerted the police. After a swift investigation, Dubai police apprehended the four men, with one still on the run. The fifth suspect, accused of helping out, denied any involvement. However, the court found him innocent due to lack of evidence.
After confessing, the four men will serve their sentences before being deported. Lesson learned: next time, if you’re posing as a cop in Dubai, make sure your costume includes a badge, not a criminal record!
