Pakistan’s T20 International cricket team equaled Rwanda’s record by losing 16 out of 27 matches in 2024. As a result, Pakistan now shares the same position as Rwanda in the list of international T20 teams.
If someone were to say that the Pakistani T20 team stands alongside Rwanda in 2024, it might sound like a joke, but it is an unfortunate reality.
In the ICC T20 competitions, Pakistan participated in 27 matches, out of which they lost 16 and won only 11. Similarly, Rwanda played 24 matches, suffering 16 defeats and securing victory in 8 games.
Following Pakistan and Rwanda, Bhutan and Indonesia also struggled in the T20 format. Bhutan played 19 matches, losing 15 and winning just 4. Likewise, Indonesia, like Pakistan, played 27 matches but managed 12 victories while suffering 15 defeats.
According to the ICC-released chart, Pakistan’s winning ratio in T20 matches fell below even Indonesia’s. These statistics raise serious questions about the performance of Pakistan’s T20 team, which remained inconsistent throughout the year.
It is worth noting that Pakistan is one of the pioneers of the T20 format and a former T20 World Cup winner. However, the team has appeared to falter in both bowling and batting departments.
