The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled fresh statistics revealing the growing dominance of social media platforms across the country, with Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram seeing record user numbers by January 2024.
As of the latest report, the number of Facebook users in Pakistan has skyrocketed to an all-time high of 60.4 million. The platform remains hugely popular, with 77% of its users being male and 24% female.
On the video-sharing front, YouTube has also experienced impressive growth, with a total of 71.7 million users by January 2024. Male users dominate YouTube as well, accounting for 72% of the platform’s user base, while 28% are female.
TikTok, which has gained a massive following, has reached 54.4 million users in the country. The short-form video platform continues to attract younger audiences, with 78% of TikTok users being male and 22% female.
Instagram, although smaller in comparison, has not been left behind, with 17.3 million users recorded by January 2024. The platform’s user base is more balanced in terms of gender, with 64% male and 36% female users.
These statistics reflect the increasing importance of social media in Pakistan, particularly as digital platforms continue to shape the way people communicate, share content, and engage with brands. The PTA’s findings highlight both the widespread adoption of these platforms and the dominant male user base across most major social networks.
