Priyanka Gandhi, the newly elected Congress MP, made a bold statement in India’s Parliament by carrying a “Palestine” bag during her debut. While it was a gesture of solidarity with Palestinians, it quickly became a hot topic. The BJP slammed her for trying to stay in the news, questioning the message behind the move.
The ruling party even called Congress a “new version of the Muslim League” and pointed out her silence on the recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. But Priyanka wasn’t having it. She fired back, calling the criticism “typical patriarchy” and made it clear that no one would tell her what to wear. She also told the BJP to stop focusing on trivial matters and instead address the real issues—like the violence against minorities in Bangladesh. “They should talk to the Bangladesh government about stopping these atrocities,” she added.
Priyanka has long been outspoken against Israel’s actions in Gaza, condemning them as genocide.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Gaza continues to rise, with over 45,000 Palestinians killed since the attacks began on October 7, 2023. More than 106,000 have been injured or disabled in the ongoing conflict.
