In a pivotal meeting of the Prime Minister’s IT Exports and Remittances Committee, chaired by the dynamic Federal Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, it was disclosed that of the 2.32 million freelancers, only 38,000 are linked to the banking system, with a modest 500 new accounts being opened weekly.

The Governor of the State Bank enlightened the committee on the bold steps being taken to confront these challenges head-on.

The meeting resounded with calls for the introduction of PayPal’s advanced online payment system in Pakistan, alongside a unified agreement to establish a robust indigenous payment system, designed to unlock unprecedented opportunities for IT professionals across the nation.

In a groundbreaking development, a collaborative working group will be formed, bringing together key stakeholders including the FBR, State Bank, Ministry of IT, and freelancers to address these pressing issues.

Federal Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, seized the moment to passionately emphasize the transformative potential of the IT sector in Pakistan’s economic evolution, stressing that sustainable, forward-thinking policies and strategic international partnerships are the cornerstone for unlocking untapped foreign income from IT exports.
