Cristiano Ronaldo, the football icon known for his game-changing moves on the field, might be embracing a new chapter off it. Rumors are swirling that he and his family are considering converting to Islam, with a former teammate spilling the details.
Abdullah, a former goalkeeper who played alongside Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, spoke about Ronaldo’s growing respect for Islamic customs and traditions since his arrival in Saudi Arabia. He shared that Ronaldo has shown a genuine interest in embracing Islam. “I’ve spoken with him about it, and he’s expressed interest in converting,” Abdullah revealed.
Abdullah also recalled a moment when Ronaldo participated in an Islamic prostration after scoring a goal, which deeply resonated with his teammates, who chanted “Allahu Akbar” in celebration. He further emphasized Ronaldo’s sensitivity to religious practices, noting that he frequently pauses training sessions during the call to prayer, asking the coach to stop until it finishes.
This interest in Islam is not a recent development, according to Abdullah. He pointed out that Ronaldo had previously been influenced by his former Real Madrid teammates, Mesut Özil and Karim Benzema, both devout Muslims. Their conversations on faith had a lasting impact on Ronaldo.
When Ronaldo first arrived in Saudi Arabia, he frequently sought Abdullah’s guidance as he was unfamiliar with the country’s culture and traditions. “He often asked questions, eager to learn,” Abdullah said.
Despite Abdullah’s comments and growing speculation, there has been no official confirmation from Ronaldo regarding his religious beliefs.
