Pakistan’s cricket sensation Babar Azam has regained the top position in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings, securing the No. 1 spot with 809 rating points, according to the latest update from the International Cricket Council (ICC). His ascent comes after a series of impressive performances that reaffirm his standing as one of the world’s finest ODI batsmen.
In the rankings, India’s Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli follow Babar Azam, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively. Ireland’s Harry Tector rounds out the top five.
However, Babar Azam’s success in the limited-overs format has not been mirrored in the Test rankings. He has dropped one position to 18th, a result of Pakistan’s recent struggles in the longer format. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan have also seen declines, with Rizwan falling to 21st place.
In the bowling rankings, Shaheen Afridi has dropped one spot to No. 2, while his fellow pacer Haris Rauf has slipped two positions to 15th. No other Pakistani bowler features in the top 10.
On the international stage, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal made waves by rising to a career-high second place after his stunning 161 in the Perth Test against Australia. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings following his match-winning performance against Australia, taking career-best ratings of 883 points.
In the ODI rankings, while Babar Azam continues to dominate, Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman has fallen out of the top 10, now sitting in 14th place, and Imam-ul-Haq has also dropped to 17th. Meanwhile, in the ODI bowling rankings, Shaheen Afridi’s slip to second place has seen Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan rise to No. 1.
