Asif Wins Third World Snooker Title in Qatar

Pakistani snooker star Mohammad Asif has secured his third World Snooker Championship title, further solidifying his legacy in the sport.

In a thrilling final at the IBSF World Snooker Championship, Asif triumphed 5-3 over Iran’s Asian champion Ali Ghareghozlou. Asif’s victory comes after a remarkable display of skill, where he dominated the 9-frame match and continued his excellent form throughout the tournament.

The 42-year-old, hailing from Faisalabad, first captured the title in 2012 and then again in 2019. His third win places him on par with India’s Pankaj Advani, who has also claimed the World Snooker Championship three times.

Asif impressed throughout the competition, setting a new record with six century breaks. He advanced to the final after a hard-fought 5-3 victory over Cyprus’ Michael Georgiou.

The Pakistan Snooker and Billiards Association, led by Chairman Alamgir Sheikh, congratulated Asif on his outstanding achievement, calling it a significant honor for Pakistan. They expressed hope that, like Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic gold in javelin, Asif’s third world title will receive the recognition it deserves.
