Prada and Axiom Space Reveal Spacesuit for NASA’s 2026 Moon Mission

-

Prada, in collaboration with space company Axiom Space, has revealed the design for the spacesuit that will be used in NASA’s Artemis III mission, set to land on the moon in 2026.

The unveiling took place at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Italy.

The suit, known as the “Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit,” is mostly white with gray patches on the elbows and knees, and it includes red accents along the forearms and backpacks.

The suit is designed without visible logos, but it subtly references Prada’s Linea Rossa brand.

The new spacesuit offers enhanced mobility and protection, with heat-reflective material that shields astronauts from extreme temperatures and lunar dust. The boots are specially engineered, allowing astronauts to walk in space for up to eight hours.

Prada’s expertise in textiles and design played a crucial role in balancing style with the suit’s technical requirements.

This marks a groundbreaking partnership between fashion and space exploration, with Prada having been involved in the project since 2020.

Around 10 Prada employees worked closely with Axiom Space, commuting between Milan and Houston. The suit is gender-neutral and designed to fit all astronauts.

NASA’s Artemis III mission will be the first to land astronauts on the moon since 1972. If successful, it will also mark the first time a woman walks on the moon.

According to Prada’s Chief Marketing Officer, Lorenzo Bertelli, the collaboration represents a new era in space travel, where trips to the moon may eventually become more accessible to the general public.
