Portugal is set to honor football legend Cristiano Ronaldo with a new seven-euro coin featuring his iconic shirt number “7.”
The coin will showcase an image of Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, along with the engraving “CR7.”
Recently, Ronaldo made headlines as the first person to surpass one billion followers on social media.
Den Barrett, a precious metals expert from the Pacific, noted that the coin’s value is expected to significantly exceed its seven-euro face value, making it a “major” attraction for collectors and fans. Its limited availability is likely to drive prices even higher.
This initiative celebrates Ronaldo’s extraordinary career. At 39, he has scored 900 goals in international football, including 130 for his national team, and has played a pivotal role in key tournaments, such as leading Portugal to a historic victory in Euro 2016 and lifting the UEFA Nations League trophy with A Selecao in 2019.
While it is common worldwide to feature royal family heads or state leaders on currency, this tribute to Ronaldo is especially significant.
