Several New Airlines Set to Launch Operations in Pakistan

-

Multiple new airlines are preparing to start operations in various cities across Pakistan, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Sources reveal that several local airlines, including Jet Green, Q Airways, and Go Green Air, have approached the CAA to obtain the necessary licenses and permits. Additionally, Air Indus has expressed interest in resuming its flight services, while Q Aviation and Liberty Air have also submitted applications for operating licenses.

CAA officials noted that the increasing number of license requests reflects positive prospects for the country’s aviation sector, contributing to economic growth. This influx of new airlines is expected to offer passengers more travel options, boost foreign exchange, and create new employment opportunities in the sector.

Currently, three private airlines—Airblue, SereneAir, and AirSial—are already operating domestically in Pakistan.

In May, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) published a performance report covering the six-month period from July to December 2023. The report evaluated the operational efficiency of domestic airlines, including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which ranked fourth with a departure and arrival on-time performance of 89.32 percent, indicating areas for further improvement.
