Taylor Swift made history at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) by securing seven awards in one night, including the prestigious Video of the Year trophy.
Globally acclaimed star Taylor Swift once again stole the spotlight at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), taking home a record seven awards, including the prestigious Video of the Year trophy.
Swift’s impressive haul brings her career total to 30 VMAs, tying her with Beyoncé for the most wins by any artist in the award show’s history.
In her acceptance speech on Wednesday night, Swift expressed heartfelt gratitude to her “boyfriend, Travis,” referring to NFL star Travis Kelce, for his support during the filming of the “Fortnight” music video. The mention of Kelce drew cheers from the audience, with Swift adding, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness, fun, and magic.”
Swift also used the occasion to highlight the importance of voting in the 2024 presidential election, urging fans over 18 to register, though she did not specifically mention Kamala Harris’s campaign despite having endorsed her after the vice president’s recent debate with Donald Trump.
Swift’s seven awards put her on par with Beyoncé’s record, further solidifying her status as one of the most celebrated artists in VMAs history. Eminem holds the record for the most VMAs among male artists with 14 awards.
In addition, Swift and Post Malone won Best Collaboration for their track “Fortnight,” with the award presented by Flavor Flav and Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles.
