Pakistan’s Drought 1,275 Days Without a Test Match Win at Home

-

Since the beginning of 2022, Pakistan has failed to win a single Test match at home.

Over this period, they have played nine matches on home soil, with four resulting in draws and five ending in defeats.

In Test cricket, playing at home is usually a major advantage. Teams like Australia and India have turned their home grounds into impenetrable fortresses, while South Africa and New Zealand also thrive on their own turf, making it tough for visiting teams.

Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case for Pakistan. The return of international cricket to the country was expected to enhance their performance, but it hasn’t.

The flat, lifeless pitches have made it difficult for their bowlers, while the batting lineup has struggled to compensate.

Pakistan’s last home Test win was in February 2021 against South Africa, on pitches conducive to seam bowling. Initially, after a decade-long absence, they won four out of their first five home Tests and drew one.
