Jeans and T-Shirts Banned on Campus at GCU Lahore

-

Government College University (GCU) Lahore has introduced a new dress code, sparking widespread discussion among students.

The policy, which aims to foster a more formal and disciplined atmosphere, has met with mixed reactions from the student body.

As part of the new regulations, GCU has banned the wearing of jeans, T-shirts, and jackets on campus.

The university administration has issued a notification requiring both male and female students to adhere to these guidelines, which are designed to enhance discipline and uphold the institution’s decorum.

According to the guidelines, male students must now wear dress shirts and pants, while female students are expected to dress modestly, with the additional requirement of wearing a dupatta. The administration has warned that non-compliance will result in strict disciplinary action.

GCU Vice Chancellor Dr. Shazia Bashir defended the dress code, stating that the policy is intended to promote discipline and appropriate behavior within the university.

She emphasized that T-shirts and tights are not suitable attire for female students and that male students should be encouraged to dress formally, reflecting the prestigious academic environment of the university.
