ISLAMABAD: Sher Afzal Marwat, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was released after being briefly detained by Islamabad police.

Marwat was taken into custody along with other party members as they arrived at Tarnol for a scheduled rally.

Earlier, PTI announced the postponement of their Islamabad rally planned for today, following the cancellation of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Islamabad administration.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed that the rally was postponed on the direction of party founder Imran Khan.

The deputy commissioner has now granted permission for the PTI rally to be held on September 8, with a new NOC issued to the party leaders.
