31 Karachi Locations Offer Parking Space for 5,000 Cars, Survey Finds

-

Under the orders of Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) conducted a comprehensive survey to address traffic issues in the city.

The survey identified 31 buildings with designated parking spaces for approximately 5,000 vehicles. However, these parking areas are being improperly utilized.

Instead of serving their intended purpose, many of these spaces are occupied by commercial enterprises such as shops and godowns, or have been converted for other uses, including mosques.

The misuse of these parking areas is contributing to traffic congestion and reducing the availability of parking for residents. The SBCA’s findings highlight the need for stricter enforcement and corrective measures to ensure that these facilities are used as intended to alleviate traffic problems in the city.
