Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has confirmed that all power distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric, overbilled consumers in April and June.
NEPRA has ordered these companies to adjust bills to reflect actual consumption and replace all defective meters.
Additionally, late payment surcharges on affected bills must be waived, and those who paid late fees will have their bills corrected.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the FIA to investigate officials involved in overbilling, especially targeting those adding extra units to the bills of protected consumers. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has tasked the FIA with collecting data from all DISCOs and submitting a report within three days.
The FIA has also summoned LESCO officials for questioning, with a report due within 24 hours.
