Jamat-e-Islami threatens Nationwide Electricity Bills Boycott If Demands Not Met

-

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), addressed a protest against inflation at Rawalpindi’s Liaqat Bagh Chowk, stating that the government must meet their demands or face consequences, including a possible call for citizens to stop paying electricity bills.

Speaking at a women’s rally, Naeemur Rehman emphasized that the government has no choice but to comply with their demands and warned of potential protests moving to D-Chowk if ignored. He urged the elimination of taxes, petroleum levies, and electricity taxes, framing the movement as a fight against unjust laws rather than mere politics.

Naeemur Rehman criticized oppressive laws, asserting that sovereignty belongs to Allah and rejecting the influence of other powers. He vowed to dismantle the oppressive system and ensure women’s rights through new legislation.

Protests will continue outside governor houses in Peshawar, Lahore, and Karachi until their demands are met. He called for a forensic audit of independent power producers (IPPs) and the termination of unfavorable agreements.

Criticizing the government’s spending and lack of vision, Naeemur Rehman stressed the need for progress in information technology and education, noting that over 26.2 million children are out of school in Pakistan.
