Pakistan and Turkmenistan Agree to Fast-Track TAPI Pipeline Project

-

Pakistan and Turkmenistan have committed to fast-tracking the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, affirming their dedication to ongoing collaboration.

The agreement was reached during a meeting on Wednesday between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, who is visiting Pakistan for two days.

Dr. Musadik Malik expressed gratitude for the warm reception during his previous visit to Turkmenistan and welcomed the Turkmen delegation. He highlighted that the visit signifies a major step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

The TAPI pipeline, he noted, is expected to reduce energy costs, stimulate industrial growth, create jobs, and foster economic development. Reliable and affordable energy supplies are crucial for industrial sectors and overall economic stability, he added.

Dr. Malik emphasized that the project, aimed at promoting economic integration and energy security, has made significant progress through collaborative efforts and ongoing engagement from both nations. Pakistan remains committed to the project’s success, which is vital for regional energy cooperation and infrastructure development.

Rashid Meredov expressed his appreciation for the Pakistani hospitality and emphasized the importance of developing a cooperative roadmap between the two countries.

Muhammetmyrat Amanov, CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited, noted that the project has progressed significantly thanks to the Petroleum Minister’s special interest and the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Both Pakistani and Turkmen officials highlighted the strategic importance of the TAPI project in enhancing regional connectivity, fostering economic growth, and addressing energy needs. They reiterated their commitment to continued cooperation and mutual support to overcome any remaining challenges, ensuring a favorable environment for the project’s advancement.

The TAPI pipeline project stands as a symbol of the strong partnership between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, reflecting their shared goals of regional stability and prosperity through sustainable energy solutions.
