Skipper Babar Azam, pacer Shaheen Afridi, and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan are unlikely to receive no-objection certificates (NOCs) for the Global T20 Canada.
Sources indicate that despite the Canadian league not conflicting with any ongoing series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is opposed to issuing NOCs. This decision aligns with the PCB’s policy of not granting NOCs to players involved in all formats of the game, due to the packed international schedule. Recently, Naseem Shah also missed out on an NOC for The Hundred for similar reasons.
Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Asif Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed, however, have secured contracts for the league.
Additionally, the Global T20 Canada has not yet received approval from the ICC. Due to several unresolved issues, the ICC has withheld approval for the league, affecting the final decision on player NOCs.
