Sri Lankan Artists Shine Bright on Karachi’s Stage

Sri Lankan performers dazzled the stage at the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) in Karachi, showcasing traditional Kandyan dances, known for their graceful movements akin to poetry in motion.

In collaboration with the Sri Lankan Consulate, ACP President Muhammad Ahmed Shah praised the artists for their outstanding representation of Sri Lankan culture, expressing pride in their achievements.

Sri Lankan Consul General Jagath Abeywarna announced upcoming cultural programs in Karachi, highlighting the continued cultural exchange efforts between the two nations. Chandana Wickramasinghe, head of the troupe, commended the performers for their stellar performances.

The event featured a blend of traditional and contemporary dances, with the Chandana Wickramasinghe Dancers Guild captivating the audience with their skillful drumming on Thammattam. Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabhashitha received acclaim for her renditions of Pakistani songs like “Pasoori” and “Kana Yari,” while Mahesha Sundamali’s performances of “Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho Ya Aftab Ho” and “Lag Ja Gale” were also well-received.

The unique singing style of Wikee garnered significant attention and applause from the audience, adding to the event’s charm and cultural richness.
