Danger for Livestock – Heatwave killed 150+ cattle’s in last 3 days

-

A severe Karachi heatwave has claimed the lives of more than 150 cattle’s in just three days.

Shabir Dar, spokesperson for the Karachi Dairy Cattle Farms Association, reported the devastating impact on livestock, which has also resulted in decreased milk production due to infections among the animals.

Farmers are suffering significant losses due to delays in treatment.

The prevailing weather across most of the country is expected to remain hot and dry, with a shallow westerly wave potentially affecting northern regions. However, isolated windstorms or thunderstorms with rainfall are anticipated in Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, and northeastern Balochistan.

Yesterday, hot and dry conditions persisted over much of the nation, though isolated windstorms and thunderstorms brought rain to parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Barkhan.

Notable maximum temperatures recorded today include Turbat at 49°C, with Sibbi, Dadu, Chhor, and Shaheed Benazirabad hitting 47°C, and Sakrand, Bhakkar, and Padidan reaching 46°C.
