“Rains are expected to start in the city during the first week of July”
The Meteorological Department has good news for Karachi residents feeling the heat: monsoon rains are expected to start in the city during the first week of July.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz informed Samaa TV that rains have already commenced in the upper areas of Sindh, with Karachi likely to experience rainfall soon.
“We anticipate Karachi to receive its initial monsoon showers in early July,” he stated.
Sarfaraz noted that this year, rainfall is projected to surpass normal levels, offering relief from the hot weather. However, he cautioned about the potential for urban flooding in Karachi due to heavy rainfall.
Karachi has been grappling with high humidity levels, exacerbating the heat for its residents, he explained. The forthcoming rains are expected to ease some of this discomfort, providing relief from the oppressive conditions.
Meanwhile, severe weather has impacted various parts of Sindh, bringing dust storms, heavy rain, and widespread power outages. The Meteorological Department has reported significant disruptions and damage caused by these adverse weather conditions.
