Trump’s Proposal – Green Cards For Foreign Students

-

Former US President Donald Trump has suggested granting green cards to foreign graduates of US colleges, signaling a shift from his usual tough stance on immigration.

In a podcast interview published Thursday, Trump expressed his support for automatically awarding green cards alongside diplomas to college graduates, including those from two-year programs and doctoral studies.

Trump emphasized the importance of attracting talented individuals to the US, stating that graduates should have the opportunity to stay and contribute to the country’s economy. He highlighted instances where skilled graduates returned to their home countries and achieved significant success, suggesting that such talents should remain in the US.

During his presidency from 2017 to 2021, Trump focused on tightening immigration policies, including the construction of a border wall and travel bans. His recent remarks contrast with President Joe Biden’s moves to ease visa rules and offer pathways to citizenship for certain immigrant groups.

Biden’s Immigration Moves: A Shift in Policy

President Joe Biden has recently made several changes to US immigration policy, including relaxing visa rules for spouses of US nationals and simplifying processes for “Dreamers” who arrived illegally as children to obtain work visas. These moves mark a departure from Trump’s stricter immigration policies and aim to provide more opportunities for immigrants to contribute to the US economy.
