“Disrespect for Cultural Sites and Increased Military Activity Raise Concerns”
Israeli soldiers have turned a mosque at the Rafah Crossing into their headquarters, restaurant, and entertainment center, showing disrespect for Palestinian religious and cultural sites.
The mosque, located just 280 meters from Egyptian territory, has been affected by these actions.
A video shared on social media showed soldiers cooking inside the mosque, writing on its walls, and disturbing its contents.
Amid increased Israeli military operations in Rafah, residents reported intensified bombardment from air, ground, and sea. Israeli tanks pushed deeper into the western area of Rafah during a particularly intense night, prompting many families to flee their homes and tents under the cover of darkness.
Additionally, Israeli forces moved towards the Al-Mawasi area near the beach in Rafah. This area has been marked as a humanitarian zone in all official Israeli army announcements and maps since the start of the Rafah offensive in May.
However, the Israeli military has denied launching any strikes inside the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone.
