Eidul Adha 2024 – PMD Predicts Observance Date and Holiday Arrangements

-

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that Eidul Adha 2024 will likely fall on June 17, which is a Monday.

According to the PMD’s Climate Data Processing Centre, the crescent moon for Dhul-Hijjah is expected to appear on June 6 at 5:38 PM. At sunset in Karachi, the moon will be 26 hours and 8 minutes old, with an anticipated visibility duration of 72 minutes post-sunset. However, the final decision on moon sighting rests with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Regarding the holiday schedule, the official 2024 calendar designates Eidul Adha holidays from June 17 to 19. As government offices typically close on Saturdays and Sundays, the holiday period effectively begins on June 15.

If Eidul Adha is confirmed for June 18, the federal government will likely adjust the holiday schedule accordingly. A formal notification outlining the revised holidays will be issued by the federal government closer to Eidul Adha.
