“Solar Radiance – Illuminating 200,000 Homes in Sindh”

-

The Sindh government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has announced a scheme to provide complete solar systems to the public for 7,000 rupees.

This initiative aims to equip 200,000 households across the province, including 50,000 in Karachi, with solar systems capable of powering one fan and three LED bulbs.

As per the Director of Sindh Solar Energy, each district in the province will receive 6,656 solar systems, with the project set to commence in October.

The systems will comprise solar panels, charge controllers, and batteries, and distribution is slated to begin once procurement is completed.

The World Bank has earmarked $32 million for the project, with potential for further expansion. Notably, Sindh currently generates 400 megawatts of electricity from solar energy, and an increase in production is anticipated following the project’s initiation.
