Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared May 28th (Tuesday) as a public holiday to commemorate ‘Youm-e-Takbeer,’ the day when Pakistan achieved nuclear capability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized in a statement that ‘Youm-e-Takbeer’ symbolizes the nation’s steadfast dedication to its defense and sovereignty. He further expressed that on this significant occasion, citizens come together under the national flag to honor the country’s resolute spirit.
He underscored the importance of May 28, 1998, when Pakistan conducted successful nuclear tests, bolstering its defense capabilities. “We remain committed to tirelessly pursuing economic security and prosperity for our nation,” he pledged.
The nuclear tests were conducted as a defensive response to India’s nuclear tests, solidifying Pakistan’s position as the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and the seventh globally.
