Equals Virat kohli’s batting record, surpasses Masaba’s captaincy record
Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, is enjoying a glorious visit to Ireland, primarily for his personal achievements rather than team success.
He has reached a historic milestone by surpassing Brian Masaba’s captaincy record and equaling Virat Kohli’s T20I batting record. These feats were accomplished during Pakistan’s second T20I triumph against Ireland.
Breaking captaincy Record :
Under Babar Azam’s leadership, Pakistan secured their 45th victory against Ireland, while Brian Masaba has led Uganda to 44 wins.
Babar’s return to Pakistan captaincy stirred some controversy, particularly regarding the replacement of Shaheen Shah Afridi. However, Babar emphasized the strong bond between him and Shaheen, highlighting their focus on team success over individual glory.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi extended his congratulations to Babar Azam on this achievement and presented him with a commemorative shirt.
Equalling Virat Kohli’s batting record :
Babar Azam equalled a significant T20I batting record set by Virat Kohli though his efforts were not enough to prevent Pakistan from suffering a defeat.
Despite losing the opening T20I, Pakistan captain Babar Azam made history by equalling Virat Kohli’s record for the most fifty-plus scores in men’s T20Is. Babar’s innings of 57 runs off 43 balls, including eight fours and a six, helped Pakistan reach a total of 182/6 in 20 overs.
Both players also share a top score of 122 in T20Is, with Kohli’s being unbeaten. While Kohli has already surpassed the 4000-run mark in T20Is with 4037 runs, Babar is yet to achieve this milestone. Following them in the list of most fifty-plus T20I scores are Rohit Sharma (34), Mohammad Rizwan (27), and David Warner (27).
