War in Gaza – Tension Emerges Between US and Israel

-

“The White House termed Netanyahu’s comments on US weapons delivery as “disappointing” and “troubling.”

New tensions arose between President Joe Biden’s administration and Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Israeli premier’s criticism of US weapons deliveries.

The White House characterized Netanyahu’s comments as “disappointing” and “troubling.”

The issue began with Netanyahu’s claim in a social media video earlier this week that the US administration, which is Israel’s primary military supporter, has been holding back weapons and ammunition from Israel in recent months.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressed disappointment, stating, “Those remarks were deeply disappointing and certainly troubling to us, given the level of support that we have provided and will continue to provide.”

Meanwhile The Pentagon announced on Thursday that the US military’s floating pier near Gaza has resumed transporting humanitarian aid into the Palestinian territory, despite ongoing challenges. Aid continues to accumulate in a marshalling area nearby as the United Nations has not yet restarted its transportation to warehouses.

The pier was reconnected to the shore on Wednesday after being temporarily removed last Friday due to rough sea conditions, marking the latest setback in an operation plagued by adverse weather since its inception in May.

Last night, the delivery of humanitarian assistance from Cyprus to Gaza resumed, with over 656 metric tons, or 1.4 million pounds, arriving at the Gaza marshalling yard today,” Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder informed reporters.

The United Nations confirmed on Friday that it has not yet resumed the transportation of aid from the pier to warehouses operated by the UN World Food Programme.

Ryder mentioned that the Pentagon has not set a definitive end date for the pier’s operation, but officials anticipate it may only be sustainable until August or September due to typically worsening sea conditions in the region beyond that timeframe.
