U.S. Elections – Harris Gains Ground in Key States Trump Campaign Ramps Up Strategy

-

As the 2024 U.S. presidential race intensifies, Kamala Harris has surged in key polls, forcing the Trump campaign to adjust its approach and prepare for possible election challenges.

Harris Takes the Lead in Key Polls
Recent data shows Harris leading Trump both nationwide and in key battleground states, raising concerns within the Trump camp. A Fox News poll, typically leaning Republican, shows Harris at 50%, marking a significant milestone. In Pennsylvania, she holds a 4-6 point lead according to multiple polls.

Consistent Gains Confirmed Across Polls
Surveys from The Washington Post and CBS News also reflect Harris’ momentum, showing her ahead by several points. The Cook Political Report now ranks her as either tied or leading Trump in almost all battleground states.

Trump Dismisses Polls as Media Tactics
The Trump campaign quickly dismissed the unfavorable polls, calling them “fake” and accusing the media of trying to discourage Republican voters. Running mate JD Vance described Harris’ rise as a temporary “sugar high” and expressed confidence in a Trump win.

Trump Alleges Election Interference by Iran
Without evidence, Trump has claimed that Iranian cyber actors are meddling in the election to aid Harris. The FBI denied the allegations, clarifying that previous Iranian interference was unrelated to Harris’ campaign.

Trump Refocuses on Immigration
In response to Harris’ rise, Trump has doubled down on immigration, a central issue for his base. His campaign revived a debunked story about Haitian immigrants eating pets in Ohio, with JD Vance continuing to promote the narrative.

Targeting Democratic Strongholds
Trump is also trying to expand his reach in traditionally Democratic areas, holding a rally in Long Island. Despite New York’s solid Democratic history, Trump urged New Yorkers to support him, hinting at a potential Republican upset.

Preparing for Possible Election Challenges
With the election approaching, the Trump campaign seems to be laying the groundwork to contest the results if they’re not favorable. By questioning the legitimacy of polls and highlighting issues like foreign interference and immigration, Trump is preparing his base for potential election disputes, similar to his 2020 strategy.
