Turkey’s Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu got himself into hot water after uploading a video of his car flying down the Ankara motorway at 225 km/h — nearly twice the legal limit.

The clip, set to Turkish folk music and President Erdoğan’s speech praising infrastructure projects, showed the minister’s car leaving other vehicles far behind.
The viral stunt didn’t sit well with traffic police, who slapped him with a 9,267 lira fine (about $280). Facing a storm of criticism, the minister shared a photo of his ticket on X and wrote: “I apologize to my nation.”
In Turkey, the highway speed limit is 140 km/h. Alarming stats reveal nearly 1.5 million road accidents and over 6,300 deaths in just the past year.
