The clip, set to Turkish folk music and President Erdoğan’s speech praising infrastructure projects, showed the minister’s car leaving other vehicles far behind.

The viral stunt didn’t sit well with traffic police, who slapped him with a 9,267 lira fine (about $280). Facing a storm of criticism, the minister shared a photo of his ticket on X and wrote: I apologize to my nation.

In Turkey, the highway speed limit is 140 km/h. Alarming stats reveal nearly 1.5 million road accidents and over 6,300 deaths in just the past year.
