Tensions are escalating in the Middle East after Israeli strikes in Doha killed Hamas leaders and civilians. Now, U.S. President Donald Trump has stepped in, urging Israel to “be very careful” with Qatar — a country he praised as a “great ally of the United States.”
Speaking at Morristown Airport, Trump said Israel “has to do something about Hamas,” but warned against jeopardizing ties with Qatar. He called Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani a “wonderful person” and confirmed he recently hosted Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani for dinner in New York.
Qatar Demands Global Action
Qatar’s PM condemned the strike as a “blatant violation of sovereignty,” urging the world to punish Israel and end “double standards.” He warned that attempts to displace Palestinians through a “war of extermination” would ultimately fail.
Arab and Islamic World Condemnation
The September 9 attack has drawn outrage across the region. Saudi Arabia denounced it as an “aggressive act” and reaffirmed solidarity with Qatar. Foreign ministers from the Arab League and OIC gathered in Doha for an emergency Arab-Islamic summit, expected to release a joint statement against Israel’s actions.
Netanyahu’s 9/11 Comparison
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the strike, comparing it to America’s response after 9/11. He insisted that “safe havens for terrorists” must not be tolerated and framed Israel’s actions as part of global counterterrorism efforts.
