Donald Trump has rejected India’s offer to scrap tariffs on U.S. goods, declaring the move “too late” and insisting it should have happened years ago.

In a fiery post on Truth Social, the former U.S. President accused India of exploiting America’s open market while shutting out U.S. firms, branding the trade relationship a “one-sided disaster.”
According to Hindustan Times , He said India sells massively to the U.S. while buying very little in return, and slammed New Delhi for sourcing most of its oil and weapons from Russia instead of America.
Trade War Heats Up
The rejection follows Washington’s 50% tariff wall on Indian imports in August—25% reciprocal and another 25% tied to India’s Russian oil purchases. Key Indian exports such as textiles, gems, leather, and shrimp have taken a hit, while Modi has pivoted toward Moscow and Beijing, appearing with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping at the SCO summit
Fallout
Washington Post rported that analysts warn this could mark the deepest rift in U.S.–India ties in decades, undermining Indo-Pacific cooperation and nudging India closer to Russia and China .
