Saudi Arabia Expands Citizenship to Skilled Professionals

Published on

Saudi Arabia has announced a new initiative granting citizenship to scientists, doctors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and individuals with rare talents and specializations.

As per a royal decree, the kingdom is offering citizenship to talented professionals in medical, scientific, cultural, sports, and technical fields as part of its Vision 2030 programme. This initiative aims to create an attractive environment for investing in human capital and drawing skilled labour to the country.

This move is anticipated to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s economic, health, cultural, sports, and innovation sectors by attracting top experts and specialists.

In December 2021, Saudi leadership initiated a similar programme, granting citizenship to notable individuals in these fields. This ongoing effort highlights the kingdom’s dedication to enhancing development across various sectors by utilizing global expertise.

In November 2023, Pakistan signed agreements with Saudi companies to enhance cooperation and facilitate the recruitment of Pakistani workers and professionals for large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia.

These agreements include plans to establish training and orientation centres in Pakistan to develop skills in line with the demands of Saudi Arabian labour markets.
