Kamala on the Rise – Polls Show Changing Dynamics Against Trump

-

Recent polling data suggests that U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining traction against former President Donald Trump in the 2024 race.

An NBC News poll released on Sunday indicates that Harris is leading Trump by 5 percentage points, with her favorability rising to 48%, an increase from 32% in July. In contrast, Trump’s favorability has risen to 40%, up from 38%. The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

At 78, Trump is making his third bid for the White House, while Harris, 59, could potentially become the first female president if elected. Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report remarked, “This has shifted from being a referendum on Joe Biden to one on Donald Trump.”

A separate CBS News poll also shows Harris ahead by 4 points, at 52% compared to Trump’s 48%, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 points. These findings align with other recent national polls indicating a closely contested race.

In the CBS poll of over 3,100 registered voters, Harris gained a slight edge, buoyed by her recent debate performance and improving economic conditions.

Meanwhile Donald Trump said that he will not make a fourth consecutive run for the US presidency if he loses the November 5 election, saying in an interview released on Sunday, Reuters reported.
