Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s offer for negotiations.
According to Iranian media, Pezeshkian stated, “We will not negotiate under threats—do whatever you want.”
Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also declared that Iran would not enter talks under pressure. His statement came after Trump revealed that he had sent a letter to Iran proposing negotiations.
Trump has reinstated his “maximum pressure” policy on Iran, aiming to isolate the country from the global economy and reduce its oil exports to near zero.
In an interview with Fox Business, Trump stated that there are only two ways to deal with Iran—military action or a new nuclear agreement.
Iran has long denied allegations of developing nuclear weapons, but the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports that Iran is enriching uranium up to 60%, close to the 90% level required for nuclear weapons.
Iran accelerated its nuclear activities in 2019 after the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposed strict sanctions, severely impacting the Iranian economy.
